Laminate Colors and Finishes

Every desk, table and reception piece we build comes in the laminate colors on this page. There are 11 standard laminate finishes, 4 premium finishes, and a high-pressure laminate (HPL) program that matches each color for pieces that take harder daily use. Product photos show one finish. On a made-to-order piece, which is most of our catalog, you can order the same piece in a standard finish at the listed price. Name the finish when you ask, or use the line under Add to Cart on any product page to ask about a custom size or color.

How finishes work

Standard finishes are included. On a made-to-order piece, the price on the product page already covers the 11 standard finishes. Ask before you order through the contact form, name the piece and the finish, and we confirm it on that piece and put it on the order.

Ready-to-ship pieces come in the finish shown. They are stocked in one finish so they can leave in 2 to 3 business days. Want one in another finish? Ask, and we quote it as a made-to-order build.

Premium finishes are quoted per piece. Four finishes sit in a premium tier. Ask for a price on the piece you want in that finish and we come back with the number and the lead time.

HPL is quoted per piece too. Some products come in HPL as standard, and the product page says so. On any other piece, HPL is an upgrade priced by the piece and its size. There is no separate HPL color list. Each finish below has a matched HPL, so a TFL desk and an HPL table in the same room read as one color.

Two exceptions. The washer dryer countertop has its own color list on its product page. Bolla shelving comes in its own five colors, shown on those product pages.

Standard laminate colors

Eleven finishes, included in the listed price of every made-to-order desk, table and reception piece. Seven are laminate wood colors, four are solids. The office furniture colors on this page fall into greys, browns, one blonde, one white and one black.

Premium finishes

Four finishes in a premium tier, quoted per piece. Two are walnut tones, one is a light grey, one is a tan.

High-pressure laminate (HPL)

High-pressure laminate is the step-up surface. It is made as a separate dense sheet under high pressure, then bonded to the panel, so the wear layer is thicker and harder than TFL. We specify it on our thickest tables and on pieces that take the hardest daily use, and it is built for decades of daily use. Where two same-size tables sit at different prices, the surface is often the reason.

TFL to HPL match list

Each finish is matched to a high-pressure laminate from one of the laminate makers, so the color carries across TFL and HPL pieces in one order.

Match ratings are the laminate makers' own designations. Iron Hemlock II's match runs in limited sheet sizes, so very large tops in that finish need a check first.

TFL vs HPL: which one do you need?

TFL vs HPL comes down to how hard the surface works. Thermally-fused laminate (TFL) is fused straight onto the panel. It is scratch and water resistant, and it is the right surface for most desks, reception desks and conference tables. HPL is a thicker wear layer for the pieces that get the most use: large shared tables and reception counters. Not sure? Tell us the room and how many people use the piece, and we will say which one fits. Our materials page explains both surfaces in more depth.

Where these office furniture finishes apply

The standard finishes run across our made-to-order lines, and we confirm the finish on the piece before you order:executive desks, conference tables, meeting tables, Parsons tables, reception desks and workstations. Workstation panels and tackboards are covered in fabric, not laminate; see the fabric options.

Questions about colors and finishes

Can I get a desk in a finish that is not in its photos?

Yes, on a made-to-order piece. Photos show one finish. A standard finish can be specified on that piece at the listed price. Ready-to-ship pieces come in the finish shown, and another finish is quoted as a made-to-order build. Ask through the contact form before you order, name the piece and the finish, and we confirm it on that piece.

Do standard finishes cost extra?

No. The listed price includes the 11 standard finishes. Premium finishes and HPL are quoted per piece.

What is the difference between TFL and HPL?

Both are laminate surfaces on a panel. TFL is fused straight onto the panel. HPL is made as a separate, thicker sheet and then bonded on, so it takes harder daily use. Most desks and tables are TFL. HPL goes on the thickest tables and reception counters, and it can be quoted on almost any piece.

Is Iconic Maple a blonde maple?

No. Iconic Maple is a grey-silver woodgrain. Hardrock Maple is the pale blonde one. If you want a light, warm wood tone, look at Hardrock Maple or Battle Creek Oak.

Can I match a finish to furniture I already own?

Send a photo of the existing surface through the contact form and we will tell you which finish reads closest.

Which colors does the washer dryer countertop come in?

It has its own color list on its product page. It is a parcel-shipped item with a separate palette, so the finishes on this page do not apply to it.
