An office island with the trash built in

This office island rolls a breakroom counter, its recycling station and a bank of drawers into one 72 by 36 inch piece. The top stands 43 inches high, so people sort, pack and pour coffee at it standing up. Four 35 inch tall pedestals fill the base: a trash cabinet with two 19 gallon cans behind its doors, an open bookshelf unit with adjustable shelves, and two pedestals that each pair a 16-1/2 inch open cubby with a box drawer and a file drawer below. Made to order in the USA.

02 · Description

Drawers that lock, cans that stay hidden

Each of the two drawer pedestals has a keyed lock, so this is a mobile island with drawers that close on petty cash, stamps and the good scissors. The trash cabinet doors are not locked; the two cans sit behind them, out of sight. As an office island with trash storage it keeps the bins off the floor of a breakroom, mail room or copy room, and the open cubbies above the drawers hold cups, binders or paper within reach.

Six casters, one piece

The island bottom is a single 72 by 36 inch base on six heavy-duty 4 inch casters that all lock, so the whole office storage island moves as one unit and stays put once parked. The trash cabinet closes one end and the bookshelf unit the other; the drawer pedestals face the two long sides, so the island works from either aisle. The top is one 72 inch laminate panel.

Frequently Asked Questions

What comes included?

The whole island with trash can storage as pictured: the trash cabinet with its two 19 gallon cans, the open bookshelf unit, the two box-and-file pedestals with their open cubbies, the 72 inch top and the caster base. The espresso machine, mugs and mail are props.

Do the drawers lock?

Yes. Each box-and-file pedestal has a keyed lock. The trash cabinet doors do not lock as listed; a door lock can be specified at build time, ask before ordering.

How tall is it?

43 inches to the top surface, with the casters on. That is a standing-height counter, not a seated desk.

How much floor space does an office storage island need?

72 by 36 inches, plus room on both long sides to pull the file drawers and room at the trash end to open the cabinet doors. Lock the casters once it is in place.

How does it ship?

By freight on a pallet, or more than one, as factory-built modules: the four pedestals, the top and the caster base. It is not flat-pack. The pieces connect to each other on site.
