The Best Executive Desks With Locking Drawers (2026)
Our pick for most offices is our own OfficeSimpli L-Shaped Executive Desk: one key locks both of its drawers, and it ships in 2-3 business days. We sell it, so we also compare four desks from other brands on what locks, what does not and how soon each arrives.
The short answer: our pick for an executive desk with locking drawers is our own OfficeSimpli L-Shaped Executive Desk with Lockable Drawers. It has two drawers, a shallow one over a deep file drawer, and one key locks both. Want more locked drawers, with drawers at both ends? Look at the HON 10500. A traditional look? The NBF Statesman. Paper files in two locking file drawers? The Martin Hartford. A file cabinet on wheels whose lower drawers lock? The Bush Series C.
How we picked: we compared L-shaped desks with drawers that lock on three things: how much of the desk locks, how soon it arrives and how much drawer space it has. Ours leads on locks and arrival and trails on drawer space: every drawer locks (as on the HON), it is the soonest to arrive of the desks whose pages give a time, and it has the fewest drawers. Every fact about another desk comes from its seller's product page, at time of posting; prices change, so they live there. More L-shaped desks: our best L-shaped executive desks. We sell our pick, not the other four.

The five desks, one by one
Our pick
OfficeSimpli L-Shaped Executive Desk with Lockable Drawers

- 84 x 72, 74 x 63 or 64 x 63 inches
- Left or right return
- Two drawers, both locked by one lock
- Hanging files
- Arrives mostly assembled
- Made in the USA
- 15-Year Warranty with tiered coverage by component
Why it works
One lock holds both drawers shut: on the return (the short side of the L), a shallow drawer sits over a deep file drawer, and the lock is at the top right of the shallow one. Half of the deep drawer has a rail system for hanging files, and an open shelf sits beside the drawers. The top is a thermally fused laminate with a clear protective coat on top, so it resists scratches and water and wipes clean with a damp cloth. It arrives mostly assembled, in four or five sections. It ships in 2-3 business days, then typically 3-10 business days of freight.
Trade-offs
- Two drawers in all: less room for paper than the desks below with drawers at both ends.
- One look: walnut with dark gray. Carrying it inside is a paid add-on.
Skip if: you need more than two locking drawers or a look other than walnut with dark gray. Our made-to-order desks lock too: all six in our best executive desks of 2026 do.
Pros
- Every drawer locks: one lock holds both shut
- Hanging files: in half of the deep drawer
- Ready to ship: free freight delivery to the curb or a loading dock
- Three sizes: see which size fits your room
Cons
- Two drawers: the fewest here
- One look: walnut with dark gray
It is extremely sturdy. I use a large three monitor mount with all of the weight concentrated in the center of the desk, and there is absolutely no flex.”
Most locked drawers
HON 10500 Series L-Workstation

- 72 x 84 inches, per Quill
- Every drawer locks, same key
- Changeable lock core
- Mocha laminate
Why it works
Drawers at both ends, and every one locks. Quill's page says: “All drawers lock using the same key; lock core can be changed as security needs require.” A changeable lock core (the part the key turns in) helps if a key goes missing.
Trade-offs
- A long wait: at time of posting, Quill's delivery estimate for ZIP code 60069 was 5 to 10 weeks out.
- Quill's specifications say full assembly is required.
Skip if: you need the desk this month, or would rather not build it.
Pros
- Every drawer locks: all on the same key
- Changeable lock core: if a key goes missing
- Drawers at both ends: lots of drawer space
Cons
- Long wait: 5 to 10 weeks out at time of posting
- Full assembly: per Quill
Traditional look
NBF Statesman Executive L-Shaped Desk

- 68.5 x 74.7 inches, per NBF
- Right-hand return
- One locking file drawer
- Gray, Natural Cherry or Ash Black
- Attach the return yourself
Why it works
For a traditional office: raised panels, crown molding and nickel pulls. One drawer locks: NBF's page lists “one locking letter- and legal-size hanging file drawer” on the return.
Trade-offs
- Its two utility drawers and two keyboard/pencil drawers have no lock listed.
- At time of posting, NBF's page gave no ship time; check the product page.
Skip if: you want every drawer to lock, or a modern look.
Pros
- Traditional look: raised panels, crown molding
- Hanging files: letter and legal size
- Three finishes: Gray, Natural Cherry, Ash Black
Cons
- One locking drawer: the others have no lock listed
- Ship time: not on its page
Two locking file drawers
Martin Furniture Hartford L-Shaped Desk

- 70 x 30 inch desk, 48 x 21 inch return
- Two locking file drawers
- Power: 3 USB ports, 2 outlets
- Antique White or rubbed black
Why it works
Built around paper. Two file drawers lock, one at each end. Martin's page: “Two locking letter/legal file drawers to hold hanging files to keep papers organized and secure.”
Trade-offs
- Its four utility drawers and two pencil and keyboard drawers have no lock listed.
- Martin's page says “Get it in 3-5 Weeks”, so plan ahead.
Skip if: you want your small drawers locked too, or need the desk sooner than 3-5 weeks.
Pros
- Two locking file drawers: letter or legal files
- Power built in: 3 USB ports, 2 outlets
- Lots of drawers: two file drawers plus six smaller ones
Cons
- No lock on the small drawers: just the file drawers lock
- 3-5 weeks: per Martin's page
File cabinet on wheels
Bush Business Furniture Series C L-Shaped Desk

- 71 x 77 inches assembled
- 3-drawer file cabinet on wheels
- Lower 2 drawers lock
- Letter, legal and A4 files
- Mahogany shown; 7 finish options, per its page
Why it works
The file cabinet rolls on casters. It has three drawers, and ODP Business's page says “a single lock secures the lower 2 drawers”. The file drawer takes letter, legal and A4 files.
Trade-offs
- The cabinet's top drawer does not lock.
- ODP Business says it is delivered unassembled, and its page gives no ship time.
Skip if: you want the locks built into the desk itself.
Pros
- Rolls where you need it: a file cabinet on casters
- One lock, two drawers: the lower two
- Seven finishes: per its page
Cons
- Top drawer has no lock: just the lower two
- Arrives unassembled: per ODP Business
Which kind of desk lock do you need?
An office desk with locking drawers usually locks in one of three ways. Pick the one that matches what you need to keep private.
- One key for every drawer (ours and the HON 10500): every drawer locks.
- A lock on the file drawers only (the NBF Statesman and the Martin Hartford): files are locked; pens and supplies are not.
- A file cabinet on wheels whose lower drawers lock (the Bush Series C): the locked drawers roll.
What does a desk lock keep safe, and what doesn't it?
A desk with lockable drawers keeps casual hands out: a coworker hunting for a stapler, a cleaning crew after hours, a visitor left alone in your office.
A desk lock is not a safe. It slows down a curious person; it will not stop someone set on getting in. Keep cash, passports and anything you could not replace in a real safe.
Before you buy, check which drawers lock. Deciding between a built-in desk and a freestanding one? See built-in vs freestanding office desks, which also compares storage that locks. For other signs of a well-made desk, see how to buy a quality home office desk.
Worth knowing: ours has two drawers, the fewest here; every other desk has more. If you keep a filing cabinet's worth of paper at your desk, look at the others.
