Filing lives at the desk, not down the hall

The two lateral file pedestals hold the folders a working front desk actually accumulates: visitor logs, vendor paperwork, delivery records. Both lock with keys, so the desk closes up clean at the end of the day. Two grommets route phone and computer cables through the surface instead of across it.

The U shape is about motion

Reception work moves side to side: greet at the counter, turn to the computer, slide to the files on either return. The U layout keeps all of it within a chair-roll, with no crossing the lobby and no turning your back on the door for long.
