Shape

Rectangular conference table in California Walnut laminate on panel bases with Glacier White side panels
  • Rectangular
  • Boat shape
  • Bow-end
  • Racetrack
  • Sightline

Seven shapes: rectangular, boat shape, bow-end, racetrack, sightline, round and square.

A sightline top is wide at the head and narrower at the foot, so everyone along the sides can see the head of the table without leaning. It suits presentations and meetings led from one end, such as a screen at the head.

Our guide to conference table shapes explains each one.

Base

  • Panel
  • A-frame legs
  • Cylinder
  • Y-legs
  • Disc base

There are 26 base styles.

Laminate bases include panel, cylinder, half-cylinder and X-bases, in the top's finish or another one.

Metal options include disc bases, X-bases and A-frame, Y-leg, loop and corner legs.

The builder only shows the bases that fit the top you picked. Some bases can take silver side panels or a kickplate.

Top and edge

  • PVC
  • 3/8 in wood
  • Rounded wood
  • Reverse-bevel wood
  • 1-7/8 in top

The top is engineered wood with a TFL or HPL laminate surface.

TFL is a laminate fused to the board; HPL is a thicker, harder laminate. Pick a standard 1-1/8 in top or a thicker 1-7/8 in top.

Then pick the edge: PVC, a 3/8 in wood edge, or a rounded or reverse-bevel wood edge. HPL tops can also take a knife edge, or an exposed plywood edge on a 1 in top.

Rounded corners and a 1/2 in reveal (a small shadow gap under the top) are options too.
