A 10 ft tapered conference table built for sight lines

This 10 ft conference table is a tapered sightline design: the top is 60 inches wide at the head and narrows to 36 inches at the tail, so the surface is widest where the screen and the head of the table sit. Everyone seated can see past the person next to them to the screen instead of leaning around a wide rectangle.

02 · Description

Ten seats, with power between the bases

A 10 ft tapered conference table seats 10 at 24 inches per seat along the long sides, in a room that a 12-footer would crowd. Pick two power grommets on this page and they are cut 18 inches each side of center, in the open run between the three pedestals, so no pedestal sits under them and the cords run to the wire management in the pedestal beside them.

Plan on a room about 18 by 13 feet so chairs can pull out and people can walk behind them; 16 by 11 feet works if nobody needs to pass behind a seated guest. The top ships in two sections that meet at a seam across the table (the grain will not line up perfectly across it), on three pedestals that step down in width to follow the taper and keep legroom open along the full length.

The sightline base and build

The top is 1 and 1/8 inches thick with a 2mm PVC edge band. The three sightline pedestals are built in stepped widths that follow the taper, with wire management inside each one so cords from the surface run down and out of sight. Power grommets, side-panel finishes and a matching credenza are picked on this page and built with the table.
